On the Upcoming Supreme Court Decision on Gay Marriage

How will the United States Supreme Court rule on two cases regarding gay marriage it recently heard arguments on? Will it make a sweeping ruling such as its rulings legalizing inter-racial marriage in the 1960s and abortion in the first trimester in the 1970s? Or will it sidestep the essential issue?
