In the best tradition of Hillory Clinton’s
“deplorables” smear, The rot
in America goes deeper than Trump,
the New Jersey Star-Ledger writes that Donald Trump is rotten through and
through. But . . .
Our habit is to blame the low state of our political discourse on
the poor quality of our leadership. It’s their fault, not ours, we tell
ourselves. It’s a comforting notion, as it suggests the rot is contained, that
we can fix the problem at the next election by installing new leadership.
But let’s get real: The most recent polls tell us that 45
percent of Americans approve of
the job President Trump is doing. And that never seems to change more than a
few points in either direction.
Understand, this is not a measure of how many people prefer Trump
to Hillary Clinton. She was a flawed candidate.
And it is not a measure of how many want to impeach Trump. That’s
a nuanced question.
These polls show that nearly half of America approve of Trump’s
behavior, despite the explicit racism, the undisputed habit of lying, the
credible charges of sexual assault from a chorus of women, the brazen embrace
of Vladimir Putin and dictators like him, the corruption of his cabinet, his
lies about seeking investments in Russia during the campaign, and so on.
Nearly half of America is okay with all that. And when Trump is
gone, they will still be with us, receptive to another charlatan like him.
Something is rotten in the state of America, and it goes well beyond Trump
himself.
The Star-Ledger concludes:
Wednesday’s hearings won’t change much. Trump will limp along with
his 45 percent approval, rousing his base with a regular feeding of bigotry and
rule-breaking. He could even win re-election.
But let’s stop blaming all this on Trump. The rot, it seems, goes
much deeper. Trump is surviving, despite his many sins, because his voters have
no regrets.
I posted these comments:

“These polls show that nearly half of America approve of Trump’s

This is a lie. A poll doesn’t tell you anything
about the reasons for any individual’s approval “of the job President Trump is
doing.” It’s a JOB APPROVAL poll—an overall assessment of Trump’s POLICIES. A
job approval poll is not a referendum on behavior. It doesn’t indicate approval
of all or any part of Trump’s “behavior.”
As for me. I don’t participate in polls,
especially political polls. My view of Trump is mixed on policy. I hold my nose
on some of his behavior. From an individualist, pro-capitalist perspective,
Trump is a mixed bag, a little too nationalistic and too statist. The
Democratic Party is irredeemably statist and collectivist, and by extension
deeply racist. For reasons stated below, I will never vote for a democrat for
any office.
----------------------------------------------------------
No matter what Trump’s negatives, when the
opposition is socialism, there is no alternative to Trump.
The Democratic Party is increasingly and
explicitly a socialist party. Socialism, Democratic or otherwise, is by
definition a repudiation of individual rights, America’s foundational ideal. In
theory and in practice, socialism is totalitarian and ultimately bloody. It is
the repudiation of Americanism. The Democratic Party, through its increasingly
influential Left Wing, is explicitly socialist. By the failure of its
mainstream leaders to loudly and strongly repudiate its socialist wing, the
entire party is now socialist. Its agenda is almost completely geared to using
government force to impose a utopian transformation of American society based
on a collective moral vision, the Declaration of Independence be gone.
Socialism is the alternative to Donald Trump.
And the S-L wonders why many of as Trump voters--we, the anti-Trumpites for
Trump--continue to stick with Trump? That’s all the GOP has to offer. But at
present he’s the only electoral alternative to socialism—the political, Marxian
socialism of the Democratic Party agenda. The real rot in America is the
increase in support for socialism, the collectivist belief that the individual
is the property of society, through the state--in direct opposition to
individualist American ideals. The Democratic Party now embodies philosophical
treason against Americanism. In terms of corruption, Trump is a pickpocket. The
Democratic Party is a murderer. A pickpocket can never destroy a nation.
Marxian socialism is organized crime rising out of the underworld to rule a
nation. It’s ideology can kill America. I’ll take the pickpocket over the
murderer any time.

Yes, the Democratic Party now embodies philosophical treason against Americanism. It is also philosophical treason against the United States. If the Democratic Party gets what it wants out of the election of 2020, it will then commit physical treason against the United States. What will we do about that? What should we do, and why? Hint. Guess. I'll say no more, here.
It will be time to display the flag upside down.
The U.S. flag code passed by Congress on July 7, 1976, states: "The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property." What can be more of an internal threat to your life and property--and by extension your liberty--than a socialist American government?
I must admit I didn't know about that possible action. If the democrats get what they want in the election of 2020, then do what they'll do, that will be treason against the U.S., even though they'll do it from the position of power they gained through an election.
But we can fly the U.S. flag upside down in response, in accordance with the U.S. flag code, as a signal of dire distress, then hope for the least bad outcome.
