One of the most morally reprehensible ideas to surface in a free country is the idea of compulsory national service. Yet, the idea just keeps simmering below the surface, breaking out into the open at unpredictable times and from unpredictable sources. I wrote about one such breakout in General McChrystal's Un-American Call for Universal National Service, published on The Objective Standard blog.
Compulsory national service incontestably contradicts America’s founding principles. It is a grave disappointment that a military man of McChrystal’s stature manages to evade just what America's military actually fights for.
